Testimonials

Greetings. I’m glad to hear you’re considering an African safari with George Hallamore/Zengela Hunters. I’ve hunted a total of 45 hunt days with George over the last 16 months. In the Hawange Park area in April ’15 and again in June ’16, and in the Chirundu and Nyukasunga areas in November ’15, hunting out of the Chirundu Safari Lodge. My 14 year old grandson also hunted with me on the Chirundu safari. Based on my experiences with George, I speak very highly of him in virtually every respect upon which you would evaluate an African professional hunter and give him my unconditional endorsement. All of my hunts with George have been spectacular and beyond my expectations. He’s 100% serious as a professional hunter, he hunts very hard (certainly to the client’s limits, which he will always in a good way push for), he never gives up, and he is himself an excellent hunter. As a second generation PH, George has more experience in the bush than most PHs (and great stories to go along with it) and he is also an excellent intuitive hunter – he has an uncanny ability to sense things and understand how and why animals are acting the way they are at any given time, and to anticipate what they may do next. His hunting equipment is good, reliable and in top-notch condition, and he cares for it with the meticulousness you expect as a client. George’s full time trackers who are with him always, Absent, his lead tracker, and Charles, his lead skinner and also a tracker, are exceptional in every respect and very friendly. I think Absent’s tracking skills are super human. As an example, in Nyukasunga last year, Absent followed for an entire day a buffalo I wounded the evening before and we eventually caught up with him and finished it. This bull on two occasions during the track had joined up with two different large herds of buffalo and Absent was able to follow this buffalo’s specific tracks through God only knows how many other countless tracks and finally got us to the bull. You can imagine how low I felt when the bull joined up with the first herd (I thought it was all over at that point), much less how much lower I felt when he mixed into the second herd. Nonetheless, they never gave up knowing there was still a chance and it finally ended right. Another thing I like about George and his safari crew, is that they really love what they do and are genuinely excited and so happy when you successfully take an animal. It’s fun to enjoy their excitement along with yours. All this being said about hunting, from my observations, George’s first priority is the safety of his client and safari crew. In particular, he is 100% no-nonsense when it comes to gun handling safety, just as you would expect and demand as a client. You demand it of him and he demands it of you. He also expects the client to do his or her part when it comes to hunting – hunt well, know your equipment and be very experienced and confident in it long before you get there, know the species and shot placements, and shoot well with your firearms. Same can be said for safety when it comes to dangerous game. George in no way dampens the excitement of hunting dangerous game, to the contrary, but neither does he take unnecessary risks. And he will let you decide what you’re comfortable with and confident in doing. George and his delightful wife Justine are also very responsive and work the entire process with you, particularly the process following the hunt to make certain your trophies all get to you in proper condition. This is such an important process and their help is indispensable. I have another safari booked with George in June ’17. This will be a double safari. The first half of it will include my wife and two older grandchildren. They will hunt plains game in the BVC. Then they’ll return home and just George and I will move to another safari area in Zimbabwe for a leopard and giant croc hunt. I absolutely love Zimbabwe; I think it still offers hunters what very little is left of the “old Africa” that has been gone for some time and will never again exist. I think you’ll really enjoy hunting with George. I personally would hunt with him anytime, anywhere, for any game. Please feel free to call me if you’d like to have a conversation (01 713-410-3807 cell; 01 970-879-1799 home) or let me know if you have questions.
Best wishes!

It has been my good fortune to have hunted dangerous game with George twice in the last 3 years and have enjoyed every minute of both hunts. George is a very hard working PROFESSIONAL hunter in the truest sense of the term and has an excellent record on both dangerous and plains game. He is experienced, extremely interested in his client’s satisfaction and goes the extra mile to insure success. He has an exceptional staff in his tracker and skinner who have been with him for many years and are good company. George hunts quite a few areas in Zimbabwe and has a vast knowledge of those areas and the game found there. George, his wife and family are great people and a pleasure to know. I hope to return to hunt with him again very soon.

On my seventh dangerous game safari in Zimbabwe, fate landed me in the hands of George Hallamore. My scheduled PH had an unexpected family emergency and George was asked to fill in. I was unaware of this change until my day of arrival. After 8 days we had crocodile, leopard and buffalo in the salt. Oh yeah, no one told George it was a leopard hunt. I found George to be an excellent, success driven individual. His professionalism and skills are outstanding. Just as important, he is truly a pleasure to be with. I very much look forward to future hunts with George Hallamore and Zengela Hunters.

I’ve had the pleasure of hunting with George Hallamore three times in the past six years.  On those three trips, we’ve taken over 40 head of game including elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and sable.  Hunt with George once and you’ll quickly understand that hunting isn’t just a job for him, it’s a passion.

George is honest, professional, and never gives up.  There have been a couple of times where due to poor shooting on my part we’ve had to track wounded animals for days.  “Quit” just isn’t in his vocabulary!  He has gone above and beyond to not only ensure that my trips were successful, but that I also had fun.

Whether it’s your first time to Africa for plains game or your tenth for dangerous game, you can count on George to book you into the best areas, and then lead you an a safari that you’ll never forget!

I have had two Safaris with George and have taken several record book animals including a very large Leopard in February of 2011. Not only is George very knowledgeable of the game being hunted, he can also identify every bird, insect or plant you may want to know about. He gives one hundred percent effort in trying to obtain the best possible trophies for his clients while keeping safety in mind as well.

The camps George uses are all top notch with great accommodations and excellent food and service. His trackers are superb also. I am looking forward to my third hunt with George…this time for elephant. I highly recommend his services!

I’ve hunted with George Hallamore on three different occasions and have only the highest remarks for him as a professional hunter. Being a veteran of 10 African safaris, in 5 different countries, as well as hunting regularly throughout my adopted country of Namibia, I feel competent to give my full endorsement to George Hallamore and Zengela Hunters.

George and his staff work tirelessly to ensure that their clients get the very best trophies and experience fair chase safari hunting at its finest. Whether hunting for plainsgame or the Big 5, a Zimbabwe hunting safari with George Hallamore is an experience not to be missed.

I had the great experience and pleasure of having George Hallamore as my professional hunter during my recent hunting trip to Zimbabwe.

We hunted in the Bubye Valley Conservancy for 14 days going after leopard, cape buffalo and various plains game. Hunting in Africa was new to me, so I wasn’t too sure of what to expect, but George’s attitude, confidence and expertise put any worries I had to rest. To make a long story short, we had hunted for leopard and cape buffalo hard every day and just were not having very good luck. I ended up taking plenty of plains game, but the leopard and cape buffalo were proving difficult to say the least. George never gave up and on day 14 at about 3pm, I ended up getting my cape buffalo and 5 hours later I had my leopard down.

George was prepared to take it to the very end to keep one of his clients happy and it couldn’t have been a better ending to a great safari. It will probably be a few years before I return to Africa to hunt again but when I do I’ll be more than happy to go with George Hallamore.

In summary I had a wonderful trip to Zimbabwe and could not have expected anything more.
